Many people have suffered with tinnitus for years without having a clear understanding of what it really is.
By definition, tinnitus is a noise that originates in the ear instead of from the outside environment. In certain instances others may hear the noises. The vast majority of tinnitus sufferers experience tinnitus that only they can hear.
The condition can manifest in one or both ears. Most people refer to the tinnitus noises they experience as a ringing in the ear but there are many different noises actually heard.
• Low Frequency Humming Noises
• Noises Like a Door Bell Buzzing
• Swishing
• Roaring Sounds
• High Pitched Whining Sounds and more
Some people even experience a combination of the different types of tinnitus sounds on a regular basis.
It’s also important to know that there are different types of tinnitus. Don’t believe that all tinnitus is the same and that there is no relief to be had.
Please check out below for a brief discussion on the different tinnitus categories:
Tonal tinnitus- in this type, you experience a constant sound such as a single note being played over and over. Only hearing one specifiv noise or pitch? That’s called tonal tinnitus.
Pulsatile tinnitus- this type is intermittent and often takes on a beat with the heartbeat or pulse of the person.
Subjective tinnitus- this is where only the patient can hear the noises.
Other common tinnitus sounds experienced are cicada like noises, screeching, humming and tapping.
If you have been hearing any of these noises or experiencing strange sounds, you have tinnitus and depending on the type, must treat it differently. Having an open mind with regard to what tinnitus is and how you will find relief will help you enormously in your quest to find a safe tinnitus treatment.
